On the 17th of November, we were in Dubai with Beth Cullen-Kerridge at the Armani Hotel, where Beth was awarded the Global Art Award for Sculpture, for her 16ft marble sculpture ‘Dhow Sail’. It was a fantastic evening and we were very pleased to be able to celebrate Beth’s success with her.
Beth Cullen-Kerridge worked with the L’Atelier Corsanini Studio in Carrara, Italy, to produce the 16-foot marble sculpture that sits gallantly in front of the Dubai Opera. ‘Dhow Sail’ mimics the boat-like shape of the Opera House itself, combining the smooth curved lines and soaring contours of a traditional Emirati Dhow Sail.
Jasper Hope, CEO of Dubai Opera praised the commission, commenting: “Our ‘Dhow Sail’ by Beth Cullen-Kerridge is a stunningly beautiful piece that represents everything Dubai Opera stands for.”
The sculpture commission was arranged by Liam West, Director and Founder of West Contemporary for the plaza of Dubai Opera house.
This November, Beth will be exhibiting at The Cafe Royal with Robi Walters for the West Contemporary show ‘Fusion’, email us at [email protected] for the catalogue of works.
