The story of Nicholas Kontaxis art journey is not just impressive, but also very inspirational. At just 23 years old, the artist has had sell-out shows in America at several galleries (including LA and Chicago) and counts Roger Federer and Eric Schmidt as collectors. Not only that, but the contemporary painter has had an extensive brain tumour which has meant he has had over 50,000 seizures so far, in his lifetime. The artist is also autistic, and with both of these things, come difficulties, yet Nicholas’ large-scale artworks are a reminder of the artistic talent that can be found despite and often assisted by autism. His painting talent is reflected in his use of bright palettes and a complexity and variety in his mark-making. What’s more the artist demonstrates a fantastic understanding of composition, particularly on such large scale artworks.
West Contemporary is pleased to be partnering with the Kontaxis family for this exhibition, which will mark Nicholas Kontaxis’ debut solo show in the UK. The show will be held in Mayfair at 35 Baker Street, W1U 8EN. To RSVP to the launch night on 5th September, 5:30pm – 10pm, please email us at [email protected]
